Hello all,
I have a 55 gallon tank that holds the following:
1 x Saddled Bichir (P. endlicheri endlicheri) 16"
1 x Featherfin Squeaker (S. eupterus) 6"
1 x "Zebra Hybrid Synodontis" (S. sp) 4"
Obviously I will upgrade my tank for the Saddled Bichir, I bought it mistaking it for a Delhizi. My question is: could I add any larger schooling fish? Preferably African, I was thinking Synodontis nigriventris. Or maybe adding a distichodus? Tell me if I am overstocked, but keep in mind I will upgrade for the bichir. Synodontis are always welcome. I just need something to fill the middle and top areas of the tank.
Thanks :)

to TFF! I hope you enjoy it here.

What size tank are you going to upgrade to/when?
I'd think the synodontis nigriventris as well, or perhaps congo tetras if you can buy them fully grown or grow them out in another tank. Not 100% though as have heard of bichirs eating them.

Have no idea what a distichodus is so can't say on that, sorry :/

Would love to see some pics of your endli! I have unfortunately not kept these types of fish yet so I could be wrong, but have been trying to research on the USD cats and congo tetras, as well as bichirs, so hopefully I am not too off the mark.

Here is the Endlicheri. I hoped the syno nigriventris would survive because they would be awake when the bichir is. But I'm not sure and I don't want to risk it if my bichir tries to eat one and the pectoral spines on the syno hurt the bichir.

Also Congo Tetras are super expensive where I live, so they would be an expensive chance/mistake. I would upgrade to a 125 (US) gallons. Would Mbuna be a choice? Or would they nip at my fish?

 What a cutiepie! I am not sure if it'd try to eat the USD cats or not. They do seem to like trying things out.
Congo tetras are expensive everywhere I think, unfortunately :/ I don't know anything about cichlids, sorry. Hopefully someone with more experience in them will come along soon!

Thanks Ninjouzata, I will try the Syno. Nigriventris and if they are attacked by the bichir I will remove them to a different tank. Does anyone else have experience with Mbuna or Distichodus?
