I have a new tank on the way that didnt come with a light fitting so i been and got myself an arcadia T5 single lamp 24w/36w starter and i got the T5 bulb why i was there but once i got home i noticed the guy had gave me a 54w T5 bulb will this be safe to use or need changing?

any comment welcome as i dont know alot about electrics and bulbs lol

I'm only just learning about these types of lights myself, but Iwould think if the ballast has a rating then it has the rating for a reason.
I'd be tempted to change either the ballast or the tube to be on the safe side.

think im gonna change the starter can get a twin 54w for the price i paid for the single, does anyone know if the twin comes with two switches one for each bulb? and would using two 1400k marine white T5 bulbs be too bright for tropical/malawi (not made up my mind what i want in the new tank yet)
