Hey getting another 4ft tank for christmas. The tank comes with 12inch pleco, angel fish and a red tailed black shark. Is there any medium/large sized fish that would do well. The tank dimensions are 4ftx16x22.I think thats about 60g,recorrect me if im wrong

Sounds like a 55G, just like I have. If the plec isn't getting any bigger than you can keep him there with xtra filtration, maybe 350 to 400 gph to handle all its waste.

I don't really like angels so personally I would take the angel to an lfs, get store credit and get maybe another NW cichlid, say a JD, or a GT, or a group of firemouths to maybe get a pair out of, or maybe likewise with convicts. Those are the fish I would go for, but if I did, prob have to get rid of the red tail as the cichlids would harrass the shark...

anyways, thats my two cents, other people might have better ideas for you.

IF YOU WANT TO KEEP THE ANGEL THEN I WOULD GET ANOTHER 2 MAYBE SO HE HAS SOME FRIENDS. ALSO I WOULD GET RID OF THE RTBS AS THEY ARE MEAN.
GOOD LUCK

GOOD ADVICE!!!! AND THANKS FOR MAKING IT LOUD ENOUGH FOR EVERYONE TO HEAR!!!

so hard to turn off the caps lock these days I guess

I have an RTBS, it's a beauitiful fish. But they are a little aggressive, they chase my other fish around. But so far I think that's all it does.

I know they are beautiful arnt they, but they are a very powerful fish when fully grown and will kill big fish

like most fish i think it depends on the inividuals
i had a 7" RTBS who was great, never bothered the others, was never too mean.
and i was gutted when he died while i was away on holiday :(

How big do they get?

i think i might keep the pleco and the rtbs but if he gets abit nasty ill get rid of him.i will also definatly get some more angles i love um!Is there any other fish that would be ok in there? maybe a small bala shark(silver shark) about 3 inch.

Yea, small bala sharks don't stay small for long :D I suggest maybe a few Pearl Gouramis. Maybe you could get a trio of them and a few angefish if you want and a school of about ten larger schooling fish, like rummy nose tetras or danios. Add a few bottom feeders, like cories, or clown loaches if you can find them small and you should be fine.

48x16x22/231=73.14
That's a 75 gallon tank.

Definitely up the angel population.

If you were to set up the bottom of the tank so that there was a choice of several nice territories for the RTBS to pick, then he'll prob'ly feel secure enough to leave most fish alone.

Rainbows are nice, but don't they prefer harder, more alkaline water than every other fish in that tank? Not saying that a school of rainbows wouldn't look stunning, nor that they wouldn't be healthy, but just that you'll have to strike a compromise that will leave everyone less happy than they could be.

I'd think about putting in some large tetras, like Diamonds or Emperors. A shoal of silver dollars would look cool, but I know precisely squat about them.
