Hi, any chance you can post a picture of your tank hood. That way I can gauge how much space there is inside it to work with. The problem from what I can see is that manufactures just don't cater for multiple controlled tubes to fit a tank that size. If you had a much bigger tank then it wouldn't be that big an issue.

That being said when there's a will there's a way, if you can let me see what the hood looks like and how much light you want then i can see what I can do.

Also might be a stupid question, but do you intend to ever run both tubes at once or mostly have them both on because obviously that has a direct impact on what wattage your tubes are.

i am at work atm so cant post a pic just yet, the hood on my tnak is horrible its an eye sore, the tank i got free but then managed to spend £300 on sorting the rest of it out, the lid has very little space tho as half of it is split into 2 other parts that u cna lift of for feeding, i would ideally go for a new hood but never found anywhere for my size, thats why i was looking at the lights to suspend above the tank as then i could remove the eyesore of a hood that it comes with lol. I would have run both the lights together untill i found out that i would then have to much and would need to get a co2 system running, if i dont get a co2 system but proceeed with the 2 lights what would happen to my plants? i guess they would be starved of the co2 needed to grow quickly? would that make them die? or would i jsut get infested with algea? if thats the case i was going to put a light in for the plants and then another light i can use with lower kelvin to that my neons would look better, so then i would only have been using 1 light at a time.

Thanks for your help shrimply

Ahh, I get you. Ugly hood, can't get one to fit and it'll cost you a bomb to get one made.

Anyway this is a possible solution.

Product description says one or two bulbs can be switched on, the cynical side of me says that you might not have a choice of which bulb is on singly but I imagine that your able to work around that.

The thing is running both tubes with reflectors, give 48Ws of T5 light fitted with a reflector, which is a lot, not quite as much as if each tube was individually fitted with a reflector.

Your right with that amount of light CO2 would be the limiting factor for the plants and you might get an algae out break but running one tube at a time would be the right amount to not cause problems.

If you are interested you'd still need to get tubes, my advice would be to go to www.lampspecs.co.uk and get the daylight for your plants and possible the white for showing off your tetras.

:good: Let me know hows it goes, hopefully it will do what you need it to. And give you an excuse to get rid of the hood.

well i sent them an email on the 14th still no reply hopefully they get bakc to me monday as soon i will have the money to purchase it.
