she seems to have 2 crown-tail, 1 VT and a bristle plec in a 30g tank. i personally never knew she had fish till i showed her mine and she invited me back she claims to have had them since Feb got em all at once just put em in said they have never fought but sometimes gang up and flair at the plec when he starts stirring things up.. i mean anyone else do this or know of people doing it, i mean i know some are calm and dont mind tank mates or sharing a tank divided with another male but 3 in one chillin with no guards or divides? whats the dealio? im thinking maybe they were fry together never got separated till the LFS got em im not sure and myself dont have the gall to try it with mine or any others though.

i guess living in large apartment complex comes in handy this makes 12 apts with aquariums sheesh from 5gals to 150gals call us the aquarium apartments from now on.

Hmmm I would like to see a pic of this set up if you can take one next time you are there, I can't see all three males living in perfect harmony to be honest, if there are 2 crowns and a veil they can't be from the same spawn, are you sure the crowns aren't just two beaten up veils? either way she is playing with fire in my opinion.

Theres a way.

I Know there is i read it in a book a year back...

i'll trry find it and read it out aloud :D

ill be back over after thanksgiving holiday to take one i already told her bout it not usually workin. i just dont see it happening i mean i could understand that just like any animal the agrression can be suppressed through breeding but shoot if that was the case the pet fair would adverstise such a monumental thing like it.. as for that one crowntail being a VT it might i means its got the length but i have crown myself and a vt and idk how to explain but those fins just look exactly like one idk weird if there is a way to do it like one said read in a book i wanna know infact i think about a million of us would like to know... save on tank space =)

he will have to read from his book and post it cuz i cant find anything online inclining to it other than other people saying they "heard" that when thy grow up togather from fry in crowded tanks they tend not to fight but like u said that crowntail cant be the same fry and also its seams its a I "heard" comment im finding no real facts anymore or atleast documented ones

:S

it was a book about a guy who wanted to keep he's betta's alive..

and he knew a way how to stop the aggresion im not sure how again but you know :/

well i was thinking about it a diff way you know a long time ago if i came to you back before peeps domesticated snakes and told you ya could have it in your house runing around you would say BS or even a few years back if i told you their feeder mice could live with a 6ft boa u say bs but yet people do it hell and feed it feeders while it has its own buddy buddy feeder i mean in the large scale bettas are ready to be housed with others but who are we to know not all are like that. idk im just saying i found more people online doing it with bettas bout 5 others if you google u will see some.. mostly people call them stupid idoitic that its a ticking time bomb this or that..yet these well a couple the other few stopped or were newbs but yet a few still have had them like that for a long time however i myself aint gonna do it with my two males and two females i saved them from death im not gonna risk it... maybe if they breed i will try it out let you all know if you find any HARD evidence let me know im still not sure how it works but eh nature it can happen and ganging up on a plec those are armored lmao so its funny what can a betta do to a plec =))

yeah at our petco they been gettin their bettas from this local breeder his females of the half-moon and king betta line are really long and large too maybe his female was breedin to be long finned after all in the wild the males aint like what we get.

I'm pretty sure that 'female' you have is infact a male  that is the reason why you haven't got them to breed, I would remove him as soon as you get the chance as his tail fin is already nipped to some extent by the other male and it won't be long before worse will happen, how big is the tank they are in? and how long have they been together? please don't wait to see what will happen even if you see no obvious aggression it is not fair on either of them to keep them in such close confines, sorry

i dunno then lol

even though the beard is smaller, is it all the way round? females only flare at the side?and does she have an ovitar (sp)?

more indepth pics?

It could be a possibility that the fish are slowly returning to 'natural' behaviours. Aferall the generations are now being bred for colour, not agression.

So perhaps in the next 10 years or so females and males will be fine together, possibly even males and males...

I wouldn't try it myself, too risky and with some of the males you can get I'm happy to keep just one in a 5G
