35gal Breeding Discus

Even when you go into a pet store and see discus in the tank, unless they're diseased they're usually swimming activly regardless of whats in the tank, even a bare bottomed one. And Emmsy is a person that made up a bunch of stuff and claimed it to be her own. By saying "I smell another emmsy" all I mean is that until I see actual photos of your dicus within THAT SAME TANK swiming around healthy and happy, I won't believe they're in there. The moment I see that picture, you will have my cudouse on the tank and on beautiful discus.

Speaking of which, what species are these discus?

you have to lol at smelling an emmsy thats well funny

nice tank with the cardinals i would like to see a pic of your discuss though
i thought that was what i was going to get when i clicked on your link
scot :good:

I smell another Emmsy... How can one be so contradictory of oneself?
what do you mean emmsy? and im not contradicting myself im not the best of explaining things ill explain from the begining,we put the breeding pair back in to the 4 foot with the other discus as we had to shut down there breeding tank as our elecy bill was high anyways when they were in the four foot the other discus decided they didnt like them and beat them up.so we decided to stick them in my 3 foot tank which is a good size for breeding this was four days ago.when the discus come out WHICH IS WHEN THE ROOM IS QUIET and nothing is making to much dashing about they look happy with high finns and beautiful colours, but when there is alot of movement then they do go and hide but they still have there beautiful colours,i will add that when discus are stressed they show black bars WHICH MY DISCUS DOESNT HAVE WHICH SHOWS THEY ARE NOT STRESSED.yeah they hide when there is movement at the front of the tank but i know i would after
1) being beat and chased by other discus
2) they are in a complete different tank
plus discus are shy fish anyways.cant remember there name but when they said there discus never hide they will do when they get stressed like being in a new tank.so im sorry if i sounded contradicting the first time its like i said im not good at explaining things plus i notice now that i didnt tell the whole story.
so hopefully you all get what i was trying to say.when i put these pictures on a different forum least i got replys stating how the tank looks and how i can approve least they didnt nit pick on how i typed and explained things, ive noticed on this forum that people get a lot of critism and people saying pointless things which it looks like they just want to boost there post numbers up.all i wanted was people to tell me how my tank looks and proberly how to make it better but no i get the complete oppisite,by the way i can see why people are starting to look at other forums and new people change there minds after a while, coz if this is how you treated eveyone then you woulded have a forum there are some really nice people on here that says nice things and give really good advice, and then you get others who just want to boost there posts heres a bit of advice if you want to boost your posts maybe try and be a bit nicer and try giving advice instead of saying pointless things like your contradicting yourself as i didnt know i was up for an award for typing and expalaning things.there my rant over :shout:

What is "nit" picking? I have never heard the term. You speak of me and Jim Curtis as if we are some vile vultures waiting to pick on someone. Well, were not. Especially after emmsy, its hard to believe someone, if they dont have ACTUALY PROOF. Its the internet. I could tell you that i have some rare species of fish, and show a picture of the tank, and be like " there hiding, but they come out when no one is in the room". Would you belive me? Most likely not.

If you do have a breeding pair of discus, then good for you. But being this is the internet, and anyone can lie, its kinda hard for people to trust others.

Dude, take a chill pill. All we wanted was proof, not the key to your car.

nice tank, what size discus are they and what specie?

Also, the anubias plant you have, you shouldnt bury the rhizome in the substrate as it will rot, tie it onto something with cotton or fishing line or you can just bury the roots in the substrate, this can be tricky as it can take some time for it to get rooted this way.

thankyou for the advice on the anubias aaronnorth i didnt realise it was anubias thought it werent growing quick ill tie it on the bogwood straightway.and too everyone who want photos ill shall take photos later tonight when my camera is charged up when i give them there ,meat treat :good:

well ive had a bit of a downer today,my brislenose decided to take a fancy at the discus he latched his self on the side of the female as she has mucas on the side so i had to take everything out of the tank to catch him they are definatly quick lol so anyways ive got pictures but it is after i have put everything in,i also decided i didnt like the bogwood in the middle so thats at the end now but as you can see it still the same tank just moved a bit around in side so here are the discus they are called aguleras sorry if i havent spelt that right but as you can see very beautiful fish :good:

yeah thats one of the son/daughters of them growing nicely and got an appetite of a lion lol

Vonnie. Now that I have seen the discus I will appologise and begin the compliments. Beautiful tank, beautiful discus. I am jealous of them :)

lovely looking tank and Discus, beautiful colours, hope they breed for you.
The problem you might have is the other fish eating the eggs or picking off fry, but Discus parents are great protectors so you may get afew survive in a community. Be aware of other problems that may arise if you breed them in there, fry getting sucked up filter intake and the need to keep the tank spotless with daily waterchanges. personally i would put them in bare tank with sponge filter and something for them to lay eggs on and then put the parents back in the community when they are ready to be separated from fry, then you can grow the fry on in a clean enviroment with better sucess and survival rates.
good luck
regards Angel
