35 Gallon

hi, i have had my 35 gallon cycling for a month and a half now and i was thinking about getting 10 cardinal tetras, 10 gold neon tetras, 2 albino longfin bn's, and some shrimp. would this be overstocked? how many shrimp could i fit in and what species do you recommend. could i see some of your pics of your shrimp. also would the plecs eat the shrimp or not?

plecs will not eat shrimp and dont add all those fish at one or your in for a hell of a spike

sounds good tome but i havr no clue about how many shrimp you could get.

yeah i was just thinking about getting the plecs today. Then maybe the cardinals next week, then order the gold neons there at the same time im getting the cardinals so they will be there the week after that. Then i am going to get some shrimp because i want all the levels to be fine and not add something that will create a spike and kill the shrimp. right now i was thinking about bumblebee shrimp, crystal red, and cherry shrimp. what do you guys think?

Shrimp are pretty low waste producers normally and most are small so you could get away with a dozen or so at least. Two things on shrimp though. They need calcium and iodine supplements to truly thrive and even more importantly, places to hide when they molt.

add some of the more hardy fish first, the cardinal tetras and the neon tetras aren't that hardy so add them last. also, make sure all your water stats are perfect as any instability in the stats can effect the cardinal and neon tetras in a negative way...

i dont think its over stocked. as for the shrimp they eat the waste food and algae. i have 5 of them in my 125 gallon and very rarely do i see them! if i do there sitting on the plants. jusd add fish slowly. i got ten neon tetra and they all died, so there not very hardy so add the tetra last.

i have just seen the vietnamese sparkle-eye whitecloud. i think it is new. it is gorgeous hope this pic worked, my first time trying a pic ehre. so im thinking of going to the fish store today and picking up my 2 albino bristlenoses. also i will order the gold neons and the shrimp. next week i will pick up the shrimp, the week after that the cardinals, and the week after that the gold neons. do you think i could bring down the numbers to 8 cardinals, 8 gold neons, 2 bn's, and 3-4 vietnamese sparkle-eye whiteclouds (if i can order them)?
