I'm not sure why though...
Because glass does not perfectly allow the transmission of light. Some spectra are "washed out" as the light passes through the glass and therefore you don't see their true colors looking through it. "Starphire" glass is able to transmit colors better than regular glass, but even it is not perfect.
. The sand I chose is the white aragonite sand, I'm staying away from sugar grain size and maybe going one or two sizes up from that. Before I do get the sand I need to first get some more L.R because as you may have already noticed, my tank barely has any L.R. and having them stacked makes more room. So I would say I'm going to try to find a local reefer who has about 15-20lbs of L.R laying around. I already have about 20lbs give or take. I took pictures of the buckets and what not but I'm waiting until tomorrow to see if I did mess things up with my params. I hustled through the process to make sure I caused the least amount of stress to my fish and coral. My zoo's and colt coral seem to be fine but my xenia sure did close up quickly. I turned off the lights to let them rest for a little while, then I'll just turn them on tomorrow. Hopefully I'll be picking up both L.R and sand this weekend to get done with this project. I just have one more question, how am I supposed to put the sand around the rock evenly. Because I know for a fact you need the rock on the bottom of the glass to make certain that the rockwork doesn't topple over and break the glass or smash any of my corals. I'm also taking out both of my powerheads are replacing them with a koralia 2 powerhead by hydor with 600gph that would suffice for a good amount of flow.
