So, i've been talking in the Discussion area about how i bought a new tank. Well, i bought 20 lbs of gravel for it today, and set it up. Here is it in the begging:

Then here is the dirt that i got out of it when i cleaned it

Here is some of the important things in the tank ( all to avoid a cycle):

That are my AquaClear Bio-Balls ( been in the filter for 6 months, loaded w/ bacteria)

That is my sponge filter ( been in my 10g tank for 6 months)

Plastic plant, im sure it ahs some bacteria on it, plus it looks nice ( i think its realistic looking) and provides cover for the fry

VIDEO'S:

This one is of me coming up with a idea on how to light the tank w/o blinding myself ( dont have a official light for it yet), but it is very poor quality int he begging, but turn your sound on, im telling what i did to solve my problem:

Here is the tank halfway full of water:

I just tested the water :
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 10
Ph: 8.2
Kh & Gh: NO readable

Time to complete tank: 3 Hours

Hope you enjoy!

LOL at 3 hours....

At least yours is inside, I set my latest one up at night, outside, with swarms of mosquitos around my legs. I figured I'd give up when I went into shock from the blood loss but I got the tank set first!

Looking good - now FISH PICS FISH PICS FISH PICS!!!

Thanks Laura! in the 9th picture of the black internal filter, there is a guppy fry. I have about 50 of those in there and a 24kt Gold Molly fry in there. I am also considering moving my cockato apistogramma to that tank as sadly, she is blind in one eye, making it harder to compete for food in the other 30g.

Nice tank mate

BTW I love your accent!

Thanks missingfunk! I honestly didnt know i had a accent. Sorry the vids were so poor quality. There is a tank ontop of that one that is making it very dark under it, so the pics and vids didnt have enough lighting to come out right =]

Everyone has an accent you numpty :good: ...Not a bad start, once you you some mroe decor and a background ull be away :)

Well see abotu a back round. I only have 1 back round in all 3 of my tanks. I know, im just to cheap to buyt a back round ( how sad is that!)> Im going to try and buy a strip light for my tank as it dosent ahve one ( my mom dosent like my light bulb idea, shes afraid it will fall in the tank or catch fire!).

I checked the water again. Here are the stats:

Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 15
Ph: 8.3
Gh and Kh : still not readable

I think all my precousions have safely evaded a cycle!

For a planted tank, I simply buy a piece of black paper or carton and stick it on with cellotape. Works great, and very cheap.

Bin bags is another option, although i dont know what colour they are in the US

Well see, i kinda like it w/o a backround ( i know, im wierd, you dont have to tell me!). I bought a Light for it. It was there last one in stock. A 30' light ( i owuld have got black, but they didnt havew any, so i got wood colored). I got a pic of the box, and then a pic of the light working on the tank, and a special pic of one of the guppy fry for Laura, as she wanted fish pics!

Awesome Krib, thats one heck of a deal money and time wise for a new tank! :). Your guppies are cute, how old are they? And do you know what you'll be doing with them? Or the colors, etc. I might be interested in a male if you're selling them eventually.

Laura

Thanks BorderCollie. There only like a week and a hlaf. I have a older batch ( almost 8 weeks old) that are shwoing there colors, but still small in size. Once your interested in buying any , let me know. ( i'll sell them to you for like 50 cents a piece).
