Hey everyone!

I want to stock my 3 Gallon tank:

It has a very good small internal filter and a java fern in there. with gravel, a fake plant and a few small pieces of slate!

It looks great but i want to stock it up. I dont want to keep Betta's or anything which isnt a fish in this tank.

I will do very regular water changes (2 times a week) And the good bacteria will help me along keeping my water of good quality.

I have kept fish before and know all the rules, so - any ideas for stocking up? Thanks!

3 Gallon is pretty limited, I personally can't think of anything other than a Betta that you could keep in there. Maybe a Dwarf Puffer, but the minimum tank size for them is really 5 gallons. I can't think of anything else.

Hey, Thanks for your comment,

I have seen A 6 or 7 gallon tank (its either one of those) in the lfs which looks good for my room. Im limited to a large tank because of space restrictions. What could i stock that up with ?

For a 3 gallon, one betta is great and if you haven't had bettas they are full of character. :D Or you could have maybe 4 shrimp in there (not with the betta; they would get eaten). Someone on here has a snail tank (just plants and snails in a 2.5 gallon) that's cool.

For a 6/7 gallon, a few endlers and a trio of shrimp would be sweet.

Another small livebearer (endlers having already been mentioned) is heterandria formosa. In the 6 gallon you would have room for a small colony of these.

dwarf rasbora? celebs rainbow? platiumn tetra?

2/3 of one of these would be ok.

I think we need a pinned topic called "what to put in a 10 or 5 gallon tank".. the question is constantly being asked.. ;)

Hey, thanks for all your replies.I think there should be a grid starting from 1g, 2g ... to 10g for small fish possibilities.

I will have to make another reply later when i find out the real size of the tank.

dwarf rasbora? celebs rainbow?

no way, they maybe small but they are very active

platiumn tetra?

what is that? generally speaking any tetra is going to need more room than 3g

oh and whilst I'm here 3g is not a tank it is a vase ;)

Whats wrong with them being active? Surely thats a good thing? Its not a case of a tank being to small, its a case of not doing enough maintenance to keep the water quality good. Qays, seems to know what he's doing, so why not a 3g? The dwarf rasbora is the perfect fish for this size tank. The great Amano himself kept some in a 1lt tank, you just have to do daily water changes.

The platiumn tetra Hemigrammus armstrongi. I have several of these and they are smaller than most tetras and 2 or 3 would be fine, so long as the water quality is kept up.
