3 Gallon Tank

The Wolf- I think the suggestion of dwarf rasboras (like mine of heterandria formosa) were based on the poster saying he would get a 6 gallon instead of a 3. Few of us would recommend any fish other than a betta in a 3 gallon- but a 6 gallon does open up more options.

It wasn't, but i would agree that a 6g would allow for a wide range of fish and I would always say get a big tank over a small tank. However, whats wrong with then in 3g provided the water quality is ok?

dwarf rasbora? celebs rainbow?

no way, they maybe small but they are very active

platiumn tetra?

what is that? generally speaking any tetra is going to need more room than 3g

oh and whilst I'm here 3g is not a tank it is a vase ;)

Whats wrong with them being active? Surely thats a good thing? Its not a case of a tank being to small, its a case of not doing enough maintenance to keep the water quality good. Qays, seems to know what he's doing, so why not a 3g? The dwarf rasbora is the perfect fish for this size tank. The great Amano himself kept some in a 1lt tank, you just have to do daily water changes.

The platiumn tetra Hemigrammus armstrongi. I have several of these and they are smaller than most tetras and 2 or 3 would be fine, so long as the water quality is kept up.

i agree with wolf, no way should them fish be housed in a tank of that size! its like you living your whole live in a very very very very very small box! they are active swimmers and need lots of room.

Thanks for the very informative replies!

The tank i will be getting is actually a US 7.7 - 8 gallon tank, I was thinking a A dwarf gourami, a couple of small catfish and a few white clouds :)

Good idea :) post some pics if you're able so we can see how it looks :)
