I had a buzzy heater..threw that and replaced it....now just checking my big tropical tank..bought some snail away but decided it was more trouble than it was worth to use...thought my angel was quiet...put my hand in the water to clean filter and it was freezing.....the plec and upside down catfish came out to see if it was feeding time but the angel looks fed up...so borrowed a small heater from a betta tank until tomorrow. Going to wrap the bettas tank up. More money!

I had a similar thing this week but not quite so drastic as heaters. I had three light bulbs blow and two air pumps!! In a week!
Isn't it strange how it all happens at once!
And yes....... the money to replace them..... grrrr!!

If you just bought it, take 'er back to the store. Hope that was the case but then that would be too easy. I read your other post about it and I'm glad you replaced. Bloozoo's response wasn't too promising about heater problems. I decided to spring for these Stealth heaters. I don't know if you have those in the UK but they are GOOD. Easy to set to just the right temp and very reliable. I felt it was worth the extra 15 dollars to upgrade from the cheapies that you can't set the temp on.
I've been sending snails to Davy Jones locker down the loo one by one. I'm sorry but when there's a choice between my boy's health and them......I don't know if they survive or not??? Nobody wants them cuz I've tried placing them..... Goodbye and goodluck *whoosh* :byebye:

Well the betta looks a bit chilly! But the main tank has warmed up. Had the 3 fish in there about 5 or 6 years so they are getting on. I put my snails in the water butt in the garden, like a little haven for them. Hubby dont actually use it to water the garden..he uses the tap. Most UK heaters are guaranteed 12 months and of course the last one I bought (I keep the box for 12 months) wasnt that one. Got to get bird seed and guinea pig food and hay etc so will have to pick up a heater. Dont have spares because I keep buying bettas

Liz- I have to ask what a water butt is. ?? Here it might be somebody who needs a girdle maybe--all jiggly in the wrong places haha  Never heard that term here.

lol,a water butt is somethig that we use in the uk to collect rain water in.most people use them to collect the water off garage & shed roofs so that they dont have to dig any drainage channels.
i put my snails in our outside water feature, they seem to thrive in there and the garden birds keep the population under control.
:)
