As it's the filter cycling and not the water/ tank, if I leave the second filter cycling for a few days, when I move it back to the second tank, will I be able to stock it straight away?

Should I leave it for a few days to make sure the levels are ok?

Thank you.

I'm afraid a few days is a bit ambitious. I'd recommend 3-4 weeks at least.

I'm not certin exactly what you are doing. Are you wanting to run a new filter for a new tank on an existing tank to build bacteria in it? If so, then backtotropical is right. It will take at least 2 weeks to build any significant amount of bacteria. If you want to seed the new tank, simply remove some media from the filter in the existing tank and put it in the new one. You will have instant bacteria and will be able to add some fish immediately but not many. The number you can add depends on how much seed media you add to the filter. The best thing to do is add the seed media to th new tank and then do a fishless cycle which chould go fairly quickly.
