im dont know about the loaches i dont know if there compatible with angles any your other fish because ive never kept them.

okay.. just so every one knows... i have done LOTS of reserch of red tails...

2 angles
a shoal or bigger tetras
1 bn
and 6 corys

i dont really want corys for this tank but i think the tetras are a good idea... would gouramis get to big?

I dont mean to sound rude, but if you have done LOTS or research on red tailed sharks then you would know that just about every website you visit says a MINIMUM of 50 us gallons!

Also, use the search feature on this forum and you will find lots of threads where people have found out about the sharks aggression for themselves, mainly when its too late and killed other fish.

I'm not trying to be awkward, i'm simply stating facts. I will GUARANTEE that if you put a red tailed shark in a 30 gal then within 3-6 months you will be back saying we were right!

Rainbow sharks can still get aggressive but admittedly not as bad as the red tailed black sharks.

With a rainbow shark alot of it depends on the sharks individual personality. I have 1 albino rainbow shark in my 30 gal and he is fine with all my fish, but this isnt always the case, just a matter of pot luck really.

i think that would be fine, but what if my tank is to small for the angels?... i want 2 sorta big fish that are really colorful.

the gouramis get quite big if you cant get angles why dont you just get

u wont find a 30 gallon tank that is 18" tall. So either go for a 60 gal (second hand??pick em up uber cheap,if u have space for a 4 foot tank)

So unless u can get the 18" tall tank then id get a different centrepiece fish than angels...3 gouramis would make a good centrepiece...or 3 rams (even though they are small) Maybe try a cichlid of some sort (im thinking about having a pair of firemouths in a community.....
