29 Or 30 Gallon Freshwater Fish Tank

I was thinking of starting up a 29 or 30 gallon tank and i was wondering if i could do a combo like this:


x1 red tail shark
x3 barbs (tiger?)
x2 angel fish
x1 spotted sailfin pleco (i think thats what its called, but i do know it gets to like 4-5 inches...not a really big one.)



I think this would turn out to be a semi-aggeresive community.

Thats a very bad mix of fish and some will out grow the tank such as the shark and gibby plec (i think thats what you mean)

Tiger barbs are nippy and would rip the angels feelers off and most likely fins, groups of 6+ are reccomended to cut down on aggression and with each tiger barb maxing 7cm they too would out grow the tank in those numbers as they are a very active fish.

Angels grow to the size of a dinner plate and need a tank a minimum of 18 inches TALL, with 20-24 being preferable.

i think red tailed sharks get to big
you need atleast 6 tiger barbs
how tall is the tank becaus eit need to be 18 inches to keep angles
an if its a sailfin pleco no because the get 18 inches a bn would be better

okay..what about this:

x1 red tail shark
x? type of schooling fish
x2 angel fish
x1 pleco (a small one)

but i seriously dont think the red tail would get to big... they can get like 6" but usuly around 4" in captivity

Sharks get bigger than that and are aggresive and territorial.

i dont know how tall it will be, mostly becauce i have not found one to buy...im just planing ahead.

The red tailed shark grows to about 6" but needs a minimum of 50 US gallons, not because of its size but because of its aggressive nature!

As a red tail shark grows it will take over large areas of the tank as its 'own territory' and attack any fish that comes near, thesmaller the tank the worse the aggression hence the 50 gal which i needed to try keep the aggression down.

Have a search on google, you will find loads of info on them but this is just from personal experience

okay.. just so every one knows... i have done LOTS of reserch of red tails...

2 angles
a shoal or bigger tetras
1 bn
and 6 corys

i dont really want corys for this tank but i think the tetras are a good idea... would gouramis get to big?

some dwarf gouramis would be ok or a few female bettas
