How may gouramis do you think I could put in. Know I couldn't have many of the large ones but if I was going to ge some different types what do you reckon?

Pearl Gouramies are one of my favourite as they are one of the more peaceful ones. Thick-Lipped Gouramies are another pretty one that is often ignored in the hobby.
If you had them as more a centrepiece fish, you could try a trio, one male and two females. If you wanted a tank full, you would probably get away with 10-12, although make sure you have plenty of females.

You may have already decided on Gourami but how about mixed species of medium sized male CA cichlids?
e.g. some of these: Convict, Honduran Red Point, Firemouth, Heller's, Ellioti, Rainbow, T-Bar, Nicaraguan

that does sound good but the only one of them fish i would me able to get hold of are the convicts.

Really, a firemouth, t-bar or nic can't be found in your local area....that's a bit of a poor show to be honest....

Really, a firemouth, t-bar or nic can't be found in your local area....that's a bit of a poor show to be honest....

i somthimes see some of them but its very rare. lots of people breed convicts and bring the fry/young down to were i work so i could get them.
