Well i just sold my 5ft x 18 x18 tank( i need a bigger one) for £170.00,originally listed as 6ft x 2ft x2ft.
The tank originally costed £151.00 and came with an ill oscar,2 upside down catfish and 3 sailfin plecos.2 fluval 404's (1 which didn't work) and heater.
I sold it for £170 by itself with stand and lid plus the working 404 filter, few bits of slates(some bits i had lying around, useful for fishes) without filter and fish.
So without the heater and filter my profit just with the fish is about £55!
:good:

Atm the 6 1/2 inch oscar,9 1/2 inch sailfin pleco,5 1/2 inch sailfin pleco and two 7 inch upside down scatfish are in my 4ft x1ft x1ft with a 30 gal filter  .
I am going to buy a brand new 8ftx2ftx2ft very soon for £235 including postage.Just as soon as my dad earns some money(hasn't managed to sell anything in the past month!).The profit from selling my 4 other aquariums should be atleast £100,going very cheap....If anyone is interested,PM me. The money will hopefully buy me an ehiem http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...1&rd=1.Then if i can get my fluval 404 running i'm hopeing this will be adeqaute. Then on my 100 gal i am going to make discus/community planted and it has 2 juwel jumbo filters :good: x2 the power x2 THE SHAVE...Sorry jsut tohught about an advert...Anyway i hope to show you guys my progress :good: ...After that i am getting a marine aquarium (atleast 55 gals) and adding an over tank luminair + pressurised co2 system for the 100 gal,but don't tell my dad...He would have a fit hahah

I have it all sorted...You will see :shifty:

can't believe you put all those fish in that one 4ft tank!!!! It's only 25g.
And you don't have another tank to put them in, you are having to wait to release funds to buy a new tank?!?!? So this could be an indefinate period these fish are stuck in this tank. I'd love to know the water parameters and how often you change what percentage of water.

To make things worse your talking about future Discus and Marine tanks when you can't afford to look after the fish you have at the moment.
I think you need to reassess your priorities and fast!

...I didn't mean i was going out to buy all the other stuff for other tanks, lol,it is hopefully my final jumble around when i have all of them but that is my plan when my next b-day comes or i can get a part time job.My dad can afford it ,just not many people are interested in conservatories atm  ,i know it sounds stupid ,but you don't know me normally the job is quite good  .I have another £30.0 (from other relatives for my b-day) so i will ask my dad if i can order the tank now.I already have 2 discus tanks, just going to transfer them to my 100 gal once my other fish have been put into this new tank. There was no other way of doing this,i needed the new tank but i needed to sell the old one first.

I'd love to know the water parameters and how often you change what percentage of water.
Whats the point of assuming what you want to hear?I just changed the water straight from their old tank to the new one and added a mature filter.

7 inch upside down catfish

I thought that the average - top size for upside down catfish was 10cm... How can yours be 7 inches! ( or was that a typo? )

As long as you do frequent water changes, then the fishes current home should be Ok for the short term...

At least it's a long tank... And that is more important than hight or width...

Cheers...

There are hundreds of upside down catfish. Infact Synodontis acanthoperca can grow up to 80 cm(although may not have the noticaeble trait of swimming upsidedown . You are probably thinking of the common species wich will only attain 7cm or so as you suggest.

Nope ,when moving the fish i measured them all (quickly) and 1 was exactly 7 and the other was just over!See i gave their exact sizes oin the first post :good: ...The oscar looks so much bigger though!Does anyone want to buy 2 sailfin plecos (the 9 1/2 and 5 1/2 inch ones),& two normal plecos?I have had so many plecos giving to me i don't need them,i will sell them £5.00 each.Dam i can't wait till i get this tank

Geez, calm down! They bought the tank with fish included as the tank was a great deal. They're putting the fish in a larger tank soon. Never once was it said this was a permanant home. And where do you get 4 ft. to equal only 25 gallons? Because I have a 30 gallon that is only 3 ft. long... maybe it's imperial gallons, who knows? But anyways, give cheesy feet a break would you. That was very harsh and uncalled for. And what's wrong with people planning future tanks... IMO its better ot plan ahead than to jump into it and have things worse off. Soem people need to stay on their meds, geez  .

Edit: I forgot to mention, good luck with your tanks and keep us updated cheesy feet :good:!!!

I'm not against people posting about their future tank plans. But when they have shoehorned that many fish into a tank and currently cannot afford to buy a suitable new home for them I get a little peeved. With your comment regarding planning ahead rather than jumping in. Do you not agree the fish should have been kept in their old tank until the new 240g had been sourced. Not only would this have kept the fish in a better environment for longer but it would also have alowed the instant setup and maturing of the new 240g. Currently Cheesy Feet will have to setup and cycle the 240g from scratch which will take some time (unless Cheesy has othermeans of maturing the tank)

I've been keeping fish for 16 years and in my opinion thats too much fish in too little space, no matter how short term it is. And if that Oscar starts getting aggressive, wooaa mama!

Its an immense bioload to put on a tank and will need major water changes every few days if not daily. I hope this is a very very tempory home for these fish otherwise Cheesy Feet has alot of work on his hands

25g = (48*12*12) / 281. Im across the pond and work in the queens finest gallons :shout:

Cheesy Feet - Sorry if it sounds like I came across harsh on you but I really think you're pushing it with your tempory setup. If you are nearish to Aberdeen I have a couple of tanks you could borrow to help in your current situation.

please look into it... he had a big tank... he will buy a new 240 gallon, he didn't have the money available yet, he will have it available very soon... the filters are probably running on the 4'X1'X1'... ever thought that people simply might not have the room for 2 giant tanks one next to eachother maybe? or that the floor couldn't support it? there are other problems except financial here... and sorry but you sound like a pita GrantyBoy...

Filterwise one working Flu 404 isn't going to cut it for very long for that bioload.
Sorry you think I'm a pain in the ass but I'm only try adding my opinion on the situation

And what do you plan to do about it other then argue,i have interest in the 4 plecos hopefully i will sell them by this week...I don't really care if you have been keeping fish for 16 years or if you 'work in the queens finest gallons' which basically nobody else does(all is done in us gallons for some reason).I know that it's an awkward situation but in the first place the tank was supposed to be 6ft x2ft x2ft,that was my crimbo present... the guy listed it rong,i can't just go out straight away and get £70.00 order an 8ft x2ft x2ft and hope it will all come on the same day.Ofcourse now you will say i wasn't saying that, well what the hell are you trying to say?I know that it won't be good for the fish but i have no option.

lol where are you?
Sorry but a guy just emailed me and i'm sorting things out with him atm (he's local & asked first  ).If he drops out ill go straight to you.Btw im in cambs, chatteris.

I've sold the 4 plecos (sorry demonmagus) for a ehiem 2215 filter and a lovely persei cichlid (he/she is so friendly) which enjoys eating my my old amazon sword leaves along with my silver dollars :good: .All i need now are the pipes for it (i think),can anyone give me a link where i can buy them from.I have looked...But i can't seem to find any argh!

I think you should be careful what you knock back Cheesy, he had a fair point (one I share) and was offering the use of his tanks. If it were me it'd have been "Yes sir, you're right, thanks very much!" jumping at the chance.

To the few having a go at the one person who replied with a. common sense and b. the fishes needs at mind - think how many times have we had people posting saying "I'm getting a big tank soon!" only for it to a. (like mine) fall through or b. be a figment of their imagination? Not saying Cheesy's made it up - but he is relying on his dad who has no money, and he only has £30 of his own which wouldn't buy him a 55g let alone a 240g. What if his dad loses his job, or heaven forbid - kicks him out, or something more pressing comes up? These things happen - and what would Cheesy do then with his fish already in a tank waaaay too small for them?

Give GrantyBoy a break - he wasn't having a go for the fun of it - he offered help!

Ps. That was a really good swap for the plecs, a filter and a pearsei? Someone must be desperate for plecs!
