I still don't agree with mamafish, cichlid-forum.com has confirmed for me in a topic I made and an article someone wrote. If the tank is 24" long it is sufficent. Before you say well my experiences etc. I have kept them, yes they were in a 30g but still I have my own experiences.
Actually this happens a lot on this forum. People shoot down your ideas here saying oh no you need a 55 gallon for almost every African Cihlid, but if you go to like cichlid-forum there are people on there that have kept african cichlids in small tanks. Actually the Admin on there breed Demasoni in a 29 Gallon and now I'm doing it too. I actually had a holding female the day after I put the Demasoni in my tank. Sorry for hi-jacking your post Kmae-san just thought I'd agree.
Well, if I could have a 55g I would. But, seeing as how I live in an apartment and my mom has already said that I can't have any more tanks (I already have 9) that won't be happening any time soon.
I guess I'm stuck between a lot of hard to choose from cichlids and an all female betta tank. Originally the 20g was going to be used for betta breeding, but I've decided to look at all my options instead. Really, my decisions depends on what my LFS has. I have no idea what cichlids they stock. And if they don't have anything that I can happily put into a 20g, I will probably buy all their female bettas
