ok i have a 20 gallon tank. Would this be large enough to sustain about 3-4 fish?
I don't know anything about marine and saltwater fish because i have been keeping tropicals.
I have a 20 gallon tank(more long than high) and an aquaclear 150 powerfilter. What would i need to get started, Any good links and tips or instructions, what tyype of fish will work in 20 gallon , will go together. >>>
thanks

hi steve,

in my opinion for a first marine tank i would go for something a bit bigger, as it would be easier to maintain, also i think 20 gallons is to small for 3 or 4 fish i would personally say two is a maximum for a tank this size

definately depending on what kin of marin fish you were looking to get - cos some are quite small and then some that seem tiny can grow really HUGE, i say this because I was looking at boxfish to buy and the one i saw wouldve been about 3 cm long - I wanted to get it until I realised that it grew to an adult size of 45cm!!
Anyway - a 20 gall is too small to have a marine tank definately, sad but true- I would think atleast a 40gall to have a healthy decent marine tank, as they need to have proper levels of chemicals and salt to the gallon etc, and its hard to sustain those things healthily in a small tank, with less water .
Im not an expert but i have been todl this about marine tanks many a time.
its alot easier losing marine fishies when u first start than freshwaters.
that puts me off as.. have u seen teh price of marine fish!?! :p
