20 Gallon Tank

Hey all, I have a 20g tank about 2-3 weeks away from being ready for fish.... I wanted to have juist 1 or mayb 2 fish in there! I wanted something really nice looking and grows to a decent size (5-6inch)

Anyone have any ideas?~

Thats kinda small for a 6" fish, is it a 20gal Long?

how tall is it?
if it's 18" tall go for a few angels, with corys or chain loaches on the bottom.

flag cichlids


cichlids will probably be your best bet. it can be tough to find some for a 20G though...and i would only go with cichlids i think if it is a 20 long..i don't know all that much about them, so if anyone disagrees feel free to correct me.
but most cichlids are sorta mid-bottom dwellers. so a tall tank doesn't do anything for them.

if you have the tall tank, you could try rams, or kribensis. then get a school of rummynose tetra or cardinal tetra or marble hatchet fish, or any other more top dwelling fish.

i suggested the filler fish despite you wanting just 1 or 2 bigger fish, because most fish that can fit in a 20 gal, aren't that big, 3-4 inches, so the tank would look a bit empty. any of the cichlids(krib,rams,keyhole flag) i mentioned you'd have to do a m/f pair. two of the same sex would probably beat each other endlessly. i'm not sure about angel stocking

I would think a pair of convicts would also be ok in a 20gal.
