What filter would you recommend for a 436 litre tank? MA seem to think I need a fluval fx5 but I don't want to give them £200 to then find it's alot more than I need!

Also...

What can I get to put in my filter/tank that will remove a greeny tinge from my water?

Fx5's are available brand new on ebay of less than £140 delivered!

Look up allpondsolutions, they also have a shop on ebay, they do a 2000l/hr filter with uv light, that will kill off any green, I use one on my 400l tank which is in the conservatory and they are only about £80!!!

My American mind does gallons - so if your tank is about 115 gallons, the Fx5 seems like overkill to me. It's rated up to over 400 gallon tanks, if I read that correctly, for $360US.

You can find other external canister brands like Eheim and Rena, with filters rated up to 160 to 175 gallons (600 - 660 litres) for under $200 US.

FX5 is perfect for a tank that size! My 180 gallon has a FX5 and Eheim Pro2, can't have enough filtration! Especially when the suggested flow rate is for the filter without any media in it!

I currently have 360ltr tank and the FX5 is definitely not overkill at all. It does a fantastic job of keeping my tank water clean and very clear. :good:
