Well, I just got back from my not-so-LFS.
I bought 2 new guys, both I wasn't expecting.....
A blue crayfish, and a common plec.
The common plec is about 9", the guy gave me a fantastic deal on it, he was really glad to see it go.
The other is surprising, and not so cheap. He was also kinda glad to see it go.
I believe he called him a "Ocean Blue Crab fish, but if you ask me, he looks exactly like the lobsters I like to eat...except he's blue.
Their aclimating right now.
The place was fantastic, it had two 180 gallons, a 155, (7) 125's, and probably atleast 200 tanks ranging from 30 gallons to 5.
It had rows upon rows upon rows of fish!
It had stingrays, every livebearer, cichlid imagenable, even a few oddballs!
Like I said, I saw rays, arrowanas, all sorts of funny looking bottom feeders, ect.
If your ever in Forest Lake, MN, I highly suggest you stop and take a look. The TWO guys who run the aquatic setion (Which is easily over 3/4 of the store) were very knowledgeable.

They don't have a website....But like I said, they have the widest variety of fish I have ever seen!

The plec is the biggest fish I have ever owned...

congrats on your pruchases :)

I must warn you, plecos make huge amounts of mess! they're very entertaining though :)

Yes, I will aventually, as soon as I find the camera.

Did you know that crayfish can walk backword? Neither did I!
Ok, just finished Aclimating the crayfish, and added him to the tank.
His tail was getting pecked at, but he stayed close to the glass, so when a meany cichlid came along, I'd just knock on the glass.
They weren't so frightened after a while, so I put food on the top for a distraction while the crayfish gets his bearings.
I just wish he used his claws as defense!

The plec is aclimating right now in a bucket, I'm kinda afriad to move him.
He's almost as big as my hand! (No to mention his mouth is almost the size of my ring fingernail...)
He seems to thrash alot, maybe I just notice it because he's so big?
Well, I should be watching thecrayfish, the owner had his doubt on how well he'd fair with the cichlids, but he's never had any problems.
Oh yeah, i saw 2 brand new things in the fishkeeping hobby to me! Gohst night fish(?) and 'tank bred seahorses'(I'd heard of them before...They cost $90 for one!)

LOL, no I ment.... He's as wide as my hand!
Erg...I'll have to get pics....maybe he's not 9"...I think he may be less...
The guy who sold it to me said it was 9", but it may be less. He's certianly longer than my hand...yes...But I meant wide. ;)

Er...Sorry for the double post.
Here's a couple of pics of them..

just out of interest... How much did you pay for your crawfish? I saw one in the store for 12 bucks, and I only had 10 bucks unfortunately, so I got a brown ordinary one.

Sounds like a lovely plec indeed =)
I might be wrong about the crayfish, but I remember reading you should not keep them in with fish because sooner or later he will start attacking/eating your fish. It might be worth looking into that and rehoming him to his own tank.

Actually, I was told to keep an eye on him, as when he molts, he's especially, fragial, and if one of my fish attacks him while he's in that fragial stage, he's as good as dead :/

He cost me about $22 with tax.

Congratulations on your new purchases.

But since you always say your Africans are small and under 4 inches, the Crayfish will definitly attack them as he gets used to the tank, watch out.

The brown ones(maybe the blue ones, dont know) are native to where i live and are called Yabbies. Fishing them just became illegal, and let me tell you. When they buite/sting/pinch....it hurts. So your fish might be in danger.

Huh, I'll keep that in mind.
The funny thing is, thats exactly the opposite of what the guy in the FS said....hmhmh... You learn best from experience, right?

Well you said he was glad to see it go -_-

Sometimes shop keepers will do anything to make money and sell fish.

DD

Yeah, but He's only a few inches long. 4" at the most, I think.
He was in a tank with a bunch of community fish...and like I said earlier, this place was huge!
I think they knew what they were getting...
Maybe He wasn't glad to see him go, I dunno.
Maybe he just saw me as another little kid who knew squat and as soon as my cute little crab died I'd want another one?
