Ok I bought some freeze dried blood worms and before i had time to feed my fish them i noticed on a guppy website that guppies do not digest them well if this is true what would be another good supplement im in the process of harvesting some baby brine shrimp would this work? i would also like to know what to feed my bbs when they hatch
thanks
:D

My guppies eat freeze-dried bloodworms with no problem, but I only use it as an occasional treat. I try to grind it up a bit smaller for them, so that they can eat it without choking.

BBS = good. I have yet to find a omnivorous/carnivorous fish that doesn't love it. I've never had to feed BBS, as they've always been the food themselves.

Hi tank212 :)

When I had guppies, I had good luck feeding them the freeze dried tubifex worms that come in cubes. Do make sure that they are nice and wet before they are eaten.

Any live food such as blackworms or tubifex, and baby brine shrimp as well, is good nutrition for most fish, but once the bbs grow up, they lose their nutritional value, so only hatch as much as you can use in a short period of time.

Another thing I would recommend is to spend a little bit more money and buy a high quality flake food such as Ocean Nutrition brand. Compare its 55.7% protien content with that of some of the cheaper brands. You might have to visit an independent lfs, instead of a chain store to find this kind of product, but the trip will be worth it.

just get any freeze dried food wet before the fish eat it and you should be fine.

as for baby brine shrimp, they should live for 3 or 4 days. If you want to feed them, anything that they can eat, they will eat. I just put in a bit of fry food and they ate that. I must warn you though, brine shrimp can stink up your hose in a matter of days so maybe you'd be better off with seamonkeys, they're basically the same thing.

hmm maybe i should hatch them outside then
thanks
