2 dead glowlights

yes, though that tetra one says it treats whitespot as well, so if you had some whitespot med, maybe try that.

Right. Thanks. I'll go in a minute, see what they've got. Hopefully that, along with salt bathing the glowlights, should do it.

You do no they are hard to treat, i'm still battling with them, does the gill look abit glossy.

Put the meds in, apparently Interprets 'Slime Disease and Velvet' meds treat flukes. As it seems only the glowlights are affected, I'l try and move them ASAP. Are flukes contagious (sp?), or can I safely move the glowlights to another tank and continue stocking the tank? As I said, the cories seem fine, no red gills or rapid breathing. Or hanging near the surface. I'll carry on with the salt baths though.

I'm afraid so once one has them the others will, best to treat the whole tank, and not add any new fish till they have gone, then they can come back, just a waiting game i'm afraid.

Right... Not too good then. I might put them in anyway so I can keep an eye on them. Its hard to keep track of 3 in a big tank, I find myself doing a headcount every time I walk in. I nkow you said the other fish will have them, but will it be as bad? No cories have died, none are acting strange. I'll treat the whole tank anyway, and it also means I can put plenty of alt in with the tetras.

It's best to medicate the whole tank, to make sure they are not passed on, to kill the parasite.

Well, theres another that possibly won't survive the night :/ . Its really hanging near the surface at a 45 degree angle. Not much I can do but wait... I'll definately isolate them tomorrow (if there's any left). How will I know when the rest of the tank is treated? There'l only be the cories and a betta in there after, and since there showing no symptoms.... Sigh, this really isn't fun, is it? Hopefully my parent won't notice the lack of fish, everytime a fish dies they get all annoyed with the shop, phone up and try and get a refund. Oh well. I'l carry on with this as best I can.

I no how you feel, just medicate and wait a while to see if they start showing signs of gill flukes again, when they are really infested with them it destroys there gills, my husband fetched a bad batch of cherry bards, in real poor health dark in colour, red inflamed gills and a glossy look to the gills, they are still heavy breathing after two treatment i think the parasite has destroyed the gill to much to save them now, hope you have better luck with yours.

Another one's dead. Two left now. These two look the strongest, hopefully they'll survive. I'll do another salt bath, I gave the worst one another yesterday (the one that died) but TBH I think he was beyond hope.

I would think w/ flukes you'd be seeing quite a bit of scratching. I'd sooner be looking at the water.

Reminder: tetras are salt-sensitive.

The two are still alive, so I'm redosing tomorow :) Still breathing rapidly, but not as much as they were before. TBH I might put them in a smaller tank now, I don't want anymore and they seem a bit 'disorientated' and slow as their the only two in there. They seem a bit lost :) Well, I'll see.

Good luck, you could give them some salt baths as well, as flukes take some time to get rid off, i've lost another cherry barb to them i think they destroyed the gills to much.
