My roommate and I just set up her 15 gallon aquarium. I purchased some activ flora for her as a gift and I also gave her my partially used CO2 setup. There is nothing it in but hornwort and some other kind of plant. There will be dwarf baby tears in the tank soon.

She really wants to have a blue crawfish in there but I'm fairly certain that a 15 gallon is a bit too small (still an option). She has  nearly decided on shrimps but is open to different ideas.

My question to you would be:
What kind of single neat fish could fit in a 15 gallon?
She doesn't want a betta. She says she is not against the idea of having 3 or 4 female betta in the tank.
I was thinking more like a neat small invert or something that doesn't produce much waste.

Of course I'll be taking some pictures. I'll take one tonight of what it looks like atm.

If the tank footprint is 2x1' I don't see why a blue cray couldn't fit provided it was pretty much the only inhabitant.

I feel like you're right. I just want to be sure that it would be very happy.

If she does get female bettas they should be kept in groups of 5+, perhaps a larger shrimp she would like if you're still concerned about it not being big enough for the cray. Bamboo shrimp get up to 4 inches, really neat! There is a red one that gets to like 3.5 inches I just can't recall the name right now.. >.<

I'll see if my lfs can get ahold of a blue crayfish along with the dwarf baby tears.
