Thanks all..........

No algae problem though.......I will take some pictures from the other side.........there is a conservatory on the back of the house with drapes hanging from the ceiling so it doesn't get too hot. The kitchen is at the back of the house (well, it faces the back with the conservatory behind it).

The picture has been carefully cropped to cut out all the pots/pans leftovers from our dinner. :D

And yes, taking water out is not a problem, just siphon down into a bowl in the sink.

I thought you were supposed to put the heater at an angle? or is that a matter for discussion.

We did have the heater at one end, but I was worried about cold spots and temperature differences across the tank. I would also be worried if the heater was at the bottom with it getting hot at the top................. ;)

Go with two heaters. Then you could put one at either side, hidden behind filter/plants and you would have redundancy in case of one dieing.

I think the two heater route is the way to go.............it is just more expense though........

....oh well no-one ever said this fish-keeping was cheap......

Might just have to wait until next month though. :S

Umm ... perhaps I'm going insane, seeing as noone has mentioned it, but are you sure thats a bristlenose? It doesnt look like 1 to me? =/

--EDIT--

I forgot to mention that I love your tank!!! :p

Is that a do-it-yourself tank? That's hella nice!

Awwwwwwww, they are sooooooooo cute and so small, i love it when fish are like that, it is the best watching them grow up ;)

Great stuff, I'd deffinatly go with the 2 heaters behind the filters option.

I think the plec probably is a bristlenose, although it does have very pronounced spots. This however certainly isnt a bad thing, and bristlenoses' patterns do vary!

That's an awesome tank and a nice kitchen. Looks like your looking outside and under water home....lol :D :kewlpics:

Nidge.......yes, there is a plexi-glass cover that I cut to size (in four bits as there are glass slats across the top).............main reason was that there isn't a lot of heat during the night in the room, so with the top off, the heater was permanently on...... -_-

Erised...........I hope they are BNoses.......we bought three of the little tykes and they called them bristlenoses at the shop (only about an inch long now).....all three have spots, but one has much brighter (almost cyan coloured) spots.

Ittybittybetta.........nope, that was an ebay purchase ( £8.50 and only 20 mins from my house :hey: ) see this thread for story>>>>>http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=58916&st=0.

And this is why we hope not to suffer from too much Algae..........these pics are from inside the conservatory looking at the kitchen window. :D :D
