Hey everyone,

Haven't been on this site for some time now, and I think it's about time I returned :)

I have just recently finished a long (Stressful) fish-less cycle on the above mentioned tank, at the moment the tank is occupied by 5 Amano shrimp and a few (4-5) Guppy fry.

However I will be giving the guppy fry to my LFS.

I was thinking about the following stock.

1x Male Betta
6-10x Neon Tetra (in a few months when the tank has matured)
2-4x Corries
1x small pleco... dunno what type though.

Any help would be appreciated! :)

And i am glad to be back!

Welcome back!
I have a 13 gallon tank and I am planning to add White Cloud Mtn Minnows & one betta in mine. I had heard that tetras tend to nip at Betta's so I did the minnows instead. About 7 WCMM & the BEtta should max out my tank.

Hey, Thank you :)

So you reckon that would be over stocking to have that many fish in the tank?

I was gonna try out the neons ( I have an emergency tank for the betta if they don't get on...) and if all fails they can go back to the LFS.

I wanted a small pleco because I love them, but maybe I should just have either the corries or the pleco?

The cories and pleco might be a bit of overload on a tank that small DAnny. The betta and tetras will probably snack on the shrimp fry.

Hey Oldman47,

I wasn't looking to keep the shrimp in this tank, I just transferred them over from my other whilst I cleaned it out, but haven't put them back.
Would this make any difference on my stocking plans?

I reckon that tetras are too much risk to be honest. Too many of them nip at bettas fins.

The only corys suitable are dwarf corys, and please keep them in at least a group of 4. You'll really see the difference.

As for plecs, there is only one suitable for a 13gal and thats a pitbull pleco.

I was just going on a few tanks I have seen on youtube and stuff with the neons in a Betta tank.

I am aware of the nipping, and I was going to watch closely at the behavior of the fish when I add them in the future...
Like I said in my first post, I do have a spare tank (although it is rather small) to put the Betta in if there is any sign of nipping... but I wasnt going to add the neons at least for a few months anyway!

Yeah Dwarf corys were my main choice, sorry I should have put that in my original post.

I was looking at maybe getting a 'snowy hypancistrus' (sorry I am reading from a tropical fish book and they dont have the common name...).
They say that the adult size is 3.5in, would this be okay for a tank this size?

If you have a spare tank then trying the betta with neons is fine :)

And as I said, the only pleco suitable for your tank is the Pitbull Pleco.
The snowy grows bigger than 3.5" anyways...even at 3.5" I'd say it's too big.
