Hey all, I have a 125L/33G juwel rio tank. I've used this tank before but it was empty so i've decided to start again, but this time a tropical tank, i have used a sand substrate, filled the water to the line and have the juwel filter running which is a gentle flow. I have a heater on at 25, for now. The tank has a peice of bogwood lying on the substrate and will have live plants soon enough. I'm thinking of getting a few angel fish, how many would i be allowed in a tank of that size? From substrate to the max water line it's 15 inches tall. I've researched and Angel fish seem straight forward, Plant wise I found this.
'Broadleaf aquatic plants are favorites of Angelfish for laying their eggs on. Amazon Sword Plants (Echinodorus) are in a genus that embraces more than fifty relatively hardy and adaptable species, most of which are native to the flood plains of South America. They prefer water that is neutral or slightly acid and not too hard making them perfect plants for your Angelfish tank.
Vesicularia dubyana (Java Moss), Ceratopteris (Water Sprite) and Microsorium (Polypodium pteropus or Java Fern) are all compatible live aquatic plants.' So I might go for some java moss, a few java fern, amazon swords and more plants I have to 2 x 28W lighting.
They seem to like flake food, but the occasional bloodworm, daphnia is something they also like.
I wanted to ask about water conditioners... Do I add dechlorinator to my tank and then check the water every week to see when it's down to 0, which will mean its cycled? There's a tropical staretr kit you can buy from p@h and it contins 2 or 3 bottles which help the tank cycle and give the fish a prcotective coating, should i buy this?
I know it will take weeks til the tanks ready and cycled.
