Wanting to do a cichlid tank but salgado would like a few more exotics if possible like maby a elephant nose or knife fish. Looking for opinions on stocking ideas so help me decide what to stock her with.

Elephantnose Fish are amazing creatures, but they need a specialist setup with only certain tankmates being suitable. So many die within months of homing apparently.

As both Elephantnose and Knife both emit electric pulses, there could be an issue in housing both, but hopefully someone will pipe in about this potential issue.

"Nmonks" is regarded on here by many as a valuable resource of knowledge for less common, oddball type fish (probably all fish in reality, but Neale assists many of us looking at leftfield fish).

Was just a thought I may end up going the cichlid route but then j its what tips to mix in there so many options which will be why I'm looking for the opinions

I would go for cichlids. Im getting a 150G soon but dividing 30G of for my bn fry. In the 120G side im going to have
4 BNs
2 rotkeil severums
1 chocolate cichlid or thread fin acara
5 redhead tapajo geos

something like that would work or if you drop the BNs you could probably add another cichlid.

Or you could go down the aggressive cichlid route with thing like jaguar cichlid, texas cichlid, midas, green terror or oscars. 2-3 of them cichlids and a big plec or catfish and a few big dithers like silver dollars.

What about a discus tank? Beautiful fish and you could house a nice shoal.

BIG tank must equal BIG fish !

Can't go wrong with a Central American Cichlid setup with that size.

Either a single (or a mated pair) of the hyper aggressives like Red devil, midas, jags etc (or even a Flowerhorn ... great pets !), or a select community of the slightly less aggressives .... something like green terror, jack demspey, nicaraguans etc.
