Buy the tank, buy a fish, fall in love with that fish, find out that fish is too big for your tank, you buy bigger tank = money to shop?
I noticed some shops label the average size the fish grows too either.

Now I am thinking along the lines of red tailed shark, clown loach, maybe a pleco. Would like to build a more aggresive type tank. Any suggestions

Clown loach grow quite big also and need to be in a group I think.

Red tailed sharks can reach a length of 15 cm (6 inches), i'd say 55g minimum.

As said the Clowns get to big and the Red Tailed sharks are borderline acceptable.

I think I have the perfect fish for you!! The ultimate mini predator! Dwarf Snakeheads - the following species would work but you need to read up on them and make sure you source the right species as some species grow HUGE!!

These ones would work as a small group in your tank

Channa Orientalis
Channa Bankanensis
Channa harcourtbutleri

I would get the Orientalis as they are probably the easiest to get hold of.

An other option would to do a pair of breeding Central/South American Cichlids like Convicts or Sajica. There are a few other species similar that would work. A pair of Blue Acaras would work and possibly a pair of Firemouths. You could try a fast school of fish like Danios with them and some South American Bumblebee catfish are always cool.

Had a look at these and I am impressed . Need to read up on these tho, do they feed on live feeders, could you keep them with other fish or just have a few on theyre own

I believe there are a few limited options with tank mates but they are quite predatory, I have seen them kept as a group of 4 or 5 in a similar sized tank to yours. They dont need live fish as food as they do take pellets and live food such as bloodworm are good food for them

If you go down this route you HAVE to do some serious reading on them and ask around on the forum I know a member called Nelly kept a group of these a while ago Just make sure you dont get one of the monster species aka Red Snakeheads - 4 foot long out and out predators that can walk across land when its eaten everything in a lake..... lol...
