Well i have decided on a tank finally,

60"x24"x18" (LxWxH)

I would like a Regal tang and a Niger triggerfish thats all i know what i want.

They would be ok in my tank right?

Thanks

Sean

is it going to be reef or fish-only? i believe that the trigger is not reef compatible, but i may be wrong. some of the bigger angels will work i guess. it really depends on if its reef or not

trigger would be fine, it can even be kept in a reef if u ever decieded you wanted to go that way :p

you have quite alot of options then regarding fish only in a tank that size, i dont envy you one bit -_- oo the possibilities! could get a nice dwarf lionfish i recon since in a tank that size you can get it bigger tankmates!!!

I couldnt get a dwarf lion, my nephew feeds the fish now (hes 2) an d i could just imagine him putting his hands in and bang. And myself i do alot of and cleaning with my hands and dont really tend to pay much attention to the fish (apart from my tomato clown recently).

Also i would really want to make use of the space, could it have no rocks etc just be sand and water (external filter, heater )?

yeh best not go for something poisnoneus then !!!

and you will want some places for them to hide, else there get stressed easily. i believe the trigger likes to hide and have a space to go when frightened. miost fish will want a place to hide when first introduced into the tank, so it may be beneficial to have something in there mayeb just in a corner for them to hide whn scared :)

that really wouldnt be making use of space, since fish need places to hide etc, id get some rock or stuff for them to hide in there. otherwise theyd get stressed out and be more agressive

Niger Triggers are planktonivorous and thus do not feed on ornamental invertebrates (with the unusual exception of sponges). However, their powerful jaws coupled with their sharp teeth can inflict bloody wounds on a stray finger; even a playful bite would probably send a small child into a crying spree.

I agree, but if you choose to get one make sure it's a pebble tooth and not a sharp tooth. Even a small sharp tooth could probably tear a child's finger off with ease.

Yeah but I figured the kid wouldn't be feeding the eel... and the hand darting around will probably scare the eel.

Hawkfish are pretty cool, too.

Hi guys and thanks for all your help. I have defo decided that no kids going neer this tank as i dont want any restrictions on fish. lion fish can be on list. This tank can be in my room with my other big ones. THe kids can just feed my small downstairs tank. My room is upstairs so no kids can go up stairs and they olny come down (coz my sister lives just round the corner) of the day. Well bit confusing but i just have to say the tank is only 18" tall its 2 foot front to back. Oh yeah its going to be on a 4' stand (ma dad made) so overall height is 5'8".

I think i defo want an eel and the triggerfish. So im open to options and i would like i wanna say big fish but some that i wouldn't have to upgrade for.

Thanks

Sean
