Pretentious? No. I'm just cocky.
 

And found "the guy". So many imperfections I had to have him. Next to the other bettas he may have never been adopted.

A lot moss on the driftwood might look good.  Dwarf sag for a carpet wouldn't look too bad either.  I really like how Bettas look in a heavily planted tank. I look forward to seeing the results.  Nice setup so far.

Update: Putting moss on the driftwood tomorrow. Vals are melting a bit from shipping recovery. Java fern and an amazon sword going in the left back corner. Pics or die i know.

Figured I would update the CHANGE this guys has had in just a few days being in a healthy tank. Worth seeing.

Beautiful betta, you made a good choice. Moss on the wood would be nice, maybe a java fern or two.

Lovely color change!  I had a betta that once went from being a butterfly to not being a butterfly... I didn't enjoy that color change too much but sometimes they turn into something really cool!! Can't wait to see what you come up with for plants and tank mates!!

I never do this... usually just plop it on and let it take hold. Decided clogged filters suck:

 
Starting to get it down... realizing I'm attaching a lot to the front of the drifwood:

An now of course we are going to have a bad hair day in water. Plugged in some Java Ferns in the back top and all around. I was running out of baby ferns to steal from my main tank! 5 planted in total. most really small...
 
But wait... SO much Java Moss left. come steal it before I throw it away.

 

 
And the moss and ferns taking hold in the tank for now... vals are getting some root tab love soon. (and Finley taking a nose dive hard into the gravely cuz he is so happy to have his house back):
