Ok so i have a 25 gallon thats just about cycled and a ten gallon that is cycled. I would like to get a fish or two for the 10 gallon, if possible something that i could move to the 25 gallon at a later date. (If not it's ok for them to stay in the ten perm instead ;))

The 25 gallon has a plec and an african yellow (my last survivng). Any suggestions?

TIA

Fill the 10 gallon with sand and get some pygmy cories! So fun to watch hehe.

Or you could get 2 dwarf puffers and some ghost shrimp.

Or a small school of tetras.

A pair of dwarf gouramis?

There are A LOT of possibilites. What kinds of fish do you like?

Excellent ideas! I like all fish. The more colorful and playful the better of course but i dont discriminate ;) Thanks for the replies! =]

Well dwarf gouramis are pretty colorful. I've never kept them but heard great stuff about them. The reason why I added the dwarf puffers in there is because my little sister is putting two in her 10 gallon with a few ghost shrimp.

I saw some nice looking ones the other day i think they were tiger gouramis or pearl or something there was a few names on the tank but i think they were tiger because they had a black body with bright neon orange swirls on the sides. Very nice fish I think Ill look into gouramis. =]

Dwarf puffers eat ghost shrimp.

Sorta.. they'd attack it, kill it, chomp it up, and then eat it.
Yea, that is what the ghost shrimp will be for. Hopefully they will aid in keeping the puffers' teeth in check.

Some gouramis can be rather aggressive to each other and other species. I would think about maybe just getting one with a few pygmy cories or something. Although gouramies are a GREAT choice in fish. They do have a wonderful personality as well. My paradise gourami used to spit water at me whenever it ws feeding time. He knew he would get a little extra if he did this. He also made clicking noises as well. Gouramis have to be one of my favorite tropical fish.

If you have a snail problem you can always chuck 'em in the puffer tank.. That'll really help wear down their teeth.

I've only had snails once and that was with my first 10 gallon after my blue botia died. :-( Then the snails overpopulated the tank and I started over from scratch. But that was a long time ago. I am sure I can buy some tiny snails and pitch them in there as well.

And dwarf puffers only get to be about an inch full grown. Tiny but aggressive and territorial. :D

If you get live plants you're almost guaranteed to get a snail.. That's how I got all of mine. I had no snails.
Now I have like.. 25.
Yea, I usually let my live plants soak in ice cold water for 10-15 minutes and it kills all of the snails. Never had a snail problem since. In the puffer tank I think I'll just stick the plants right in for snails.
