I went to my LFS the other day to look for some apistogramma. They didn't have any in stock. So instead of wasting 2 gallons in gas, I decided to stay for a while, and take a look around. I probally spent about 30 minutes just watching the fish. I saw some Kribs. Then I got to thinking. Could I have a kribensis in a 10 gallon?

That says that it is okay with 5 neon tetras. Is that true? Could I have a single one in a 10 gallon with 5 neons?

If you buy kribs you have to have 1 male and a female or else they will bikker.especially males.
A 10g would be a bit tight but just see what other people have to say.

But I have read that kribs are good for community tanks? Would it be a yes or a no?

What type of tetras would you reccomend for my 10 gallon?

Oh, and should I get a male or a female? Or does it even matter?

WEll, you should always get 2 of each fish or else they will get only and may die.
And for tetras you could get black skirt tetras, fruit tetras, glowlight tetras, etc. Just bigger than a neon tetra.

If you do kribs in a 10g, do NOT put anything else in there. It WILL not work. The kribs will be very territorial and the tetra's will be stressed out. Or the tetra's will swim to fast and stress the kribs out. It's common when keeping barbs with kribs. A 10g tank is a stretch, but if you have a lot of hiding places, a weekly water schedule routine, then they should be fine.

I agree with this.

AqAdvisor did report:

Warning: When Kribensis starts to breed, they may become too aggressive to co-exist with Neon Tetra.

I think this message is still appropriate. :)
