10 gal my first of many tanks being revived

So after getting inspired to start another tank from a certain pea puffer Savannah (thanks btw) I eventually got some time to make progress. Get a filter and get the tank up and running.

This tank was the first tank I ever owned. yep. About a week ago i fetched it out of the garage. Cleaned it up. Checked for leaks and what not.

The stand is a door shy away from being finished but that will happen at a later stage. Probably this weekend.

I filled and scaped the tank this morning and I stole a few snippets of plants and 3 ramshorn snails from my other tank to add to the tank as a starter. The wood I have been soaking for some time however it is still floating and I had to the it down.

As I am not sure yet what I want to put in this tank I am open to suggestions. Please let me know what you all think.

I will post a few nicer pics once things have settled and the lighting is better.

So the water is still a little murky. And there are still a few tiny bubbles. But after a minor readjustment to one of the pieces of wood. Now to get the cycle going. I'm considering taking the charcoal out of the filter as I will be adding fertilizer. And I will probably boost the cycle with media from my other tank

Please let me know what you guys think and I'm open to suggestions.

Okay so it is seemingly going to be a shrimp tank I have placed an order for 4 cherries to start with and they will be living in a breeder net until the thank is cycled. And maybe a female betta once things get settled in and the shrimp start to breed.

Oh and I have my eye on this female

she is a very active swimmer and absolutely stunning.

So an update. However small. I have found someone who is going to give me some Susswassertang for free. I hear that this plant is quite rare but very unique.

My cycle has gone a bit haywire.

The NO 2 reading is upwards of 5 mg/I. I am worried that this much is going to affect my plants. It has also seemingly killed the snails.

And I had the shock of my life last night when I noticed this little thing running around inside the tank. Im not sure if anyone has experience with this or not but yeah.
