Hi guys n gals.

I picked up a middle aged angelfish 10 days ago, I presume someone gave him back to the fish shop but he looked in great condition and the better half fell in love with him, about 4 days ago he had a really long clear poo (3 inches) and has not eaten since and is breathing heavily.
For the angel I’ve dropped food and pee’s broken up all around him and he’s ignoring them,

Around the same time angelfish stopped eating my cichid died , cichid had a very long clear poo of about 6 inches, nearly week ago and stopped eating, I tried pee’s but he ignored them became very skinny and bend and passed away.

I should start with unusual things I’ve being doing last week
1) I have cut a small piece of cucumber leaving the outside skin, washed it and left it in the tank for 3 days for my catfish.(someone ate a lot of the skin off the cucumber)
2) I have giving a dose of (7or 8 or 9 intrepet ?? ) for mouth rot and removed the new contaminated tetra fish to another tank.
30% - 40% water change 3 days later.
Added flora boost (very little)
All levels are normal,
0= ammonia,
0= nitrite,
nearly 0 = nitrate.

I have been informed that one of my little angels has callamanus worms (thank you Gilli and blue acara from TFF)
And have ordered sera nematol for it.

oh and i have dropped the temp to 24

Thanks in advance
Tim.

the tank has been up since december and i use the API freshwater master test kit(test tubes)
tank 150 litres has 4 angels 2 tetras 2 gourami's and an african claw frog

Bump.
Anyone?
I would like to get to a pet shop today if i needed anything.
i saw a few forms here yesterday that would indicate worms of some sort(cant find them now, typical)
I think he may only have a day or four left in him.

I would separate the angel and treat for worms and internal parasites.

It is unusual for nitrAte to be so low unless you are doing huge water changes - which could themselves cause problems if your fish are particularly sensitive at the moment. Have you been doing big water changes?

i have been doing 20 litres a week of a 150 litre tank.
i have been adding tap safe and after, stress zyme and stress coat.
i had a large center rock( which i removed to give them more room) but less place to hide, the angels have been fighting for the last month,
which i put down to grupies in a see through hatchery.
my other tank is only starting off its cycle the last few weeks and is very cloudy (white), i think moving him would stress the angel out,
tonight i will put the rock back in, lower the current in the tank , and do a full medication as soon as it arrives. i dont think the mouth/ fin rot medication will help him.

ive only been doing water changes to deal with the amount of poo catfish has been leaving , i may put that water back in again when the poo settles and keep an eye on nitrate levels.

just did another water test #
all zero even nitrate.
poor angel i put bloodworms ina straw and he slowly turned away.
the other angels began eating the straw at the smell of them.

When did you last use the wormer med then.
Also after treatment you are meant to back up with a bacterial med.

okay, i have just picked up some interpet no.9 for my (on a diet) black angel,
both tanks last night got a full dose of mouth rot. interpet no.8,
so im going to have to put him in a 5 litre water bottle with 40% tap water and dose the "£%%£- er
how to airate the tub i do not know, bought an air pump on ebay yesterday from the uk.
all i know is i cannot dose either tank till next week and black angel has not eaten in 5-8 days.

Once you finished the worming course you need to use a bacterial med like anti internal bacteria med by interpet.

The only question i have to ask is since i did a interpet no8 fin/mouth rot treatment yesterday, is it ok to do a (certain?)% water change and jump straight into a worm medication of SERA Nematol as soon as it arrives ? (tomorrow, saturday or monday).

before i rant a little i should say thank u wilder,
Thank u wilder.

i've just read a post of u and ccskitten i googled SERA Nematol and thats the first search result on google so congrats on being numero uno on that.

SERA Nematol is being posted over from the uk as we speak i hope that would do, as no shops in dublin city centre seem to have anything except interpet no9.
i was going to use that on an angel fish that had thread worms but reading the ccskitten post im better to blast both tanks with SERA Nematol (save u repeating yourself)
i be correct in saying that interpet no9 is a bacterial med that i should use after my sera nem, how long after?

Oh no i've more questions, hahahah.
Later.

Do a 30% water change and run some black carbon for aday before adding the worming med.
Once you finished the worming med add the anti internal bacteria med by interpet. But do a water change and run some black carbon for a day to two.

right, research done, carbon is nessary, dear god i think i have some in my filter, im just throwing med's down the sink.
had the tank since december will i need new carbon?
on a good note the fish that had the mouth fungus are in a seperate tank that has no carbon filter,
will the questions ever end.

reminds my of the first time i bought a motorbike , thinking, lock, helmet, bike & insurance would be all i needed.

This means going to one of the city centre's terrible LFS, god i promised myself yesterday not to go back to them. dag nam it

Good Luck.
When it rains it pours.

yes yes yes, when it rains it pours, then u get hit by lightning... heheh

i got distracted
(girlfriend , cough , handed me , cough , the wrong one, cough) and got handed "Gold disease safe" which i took as tap safe and purchased.

So i now have no tap safe and this stuff instead, is it as good as SERA Nematol.
and could i start a treament with it?
or should i wait till ebay gets
SERA Nematol here on tuesday.
