Found a lovely aquarium 1.5 imp gallons feel ok about having as betta tank, as I've seen it - has built in filtration and overhead lamp but no heater and I know the room gets cold at night - what would you suggest? Are there any mini-heaters small enough not to over a 1.5g?

Not many, usully people suggest betta tanks to be 2.5 gallons or higher

No, I don't think they sell any small heaters. They are all pretty big and won't go with an 1.5 Gallon tank. Maybe you could try a 5 Gallon Tank, It can fit a few fish and I think a heater will fit with it.

Hope I helped! :)

ok, Im a 'big' tank guy, but as I understand physics, A heater is designed to cut off at a desired temp. I cant see why a 200W heater wouldn't handle a 5G tank any more than it would a 50...

Does 50+50=200 then? Hrm, news to me...

The reason a, say, 50w heater isn't used on small tanks is that it doesn't take much time for it to warm the water- it would be flicking on and off a lot, which probably doesn't do it much good. And there's the size issue too.

lol the 200W is twice as big in diameter and lenght than a 50W. sorry should have writen that out better.

and yes 50+50=100w

Is 1.5g too small for a betta? They have them in the LFS in these 1.5g with 1 pygmy cory - I'm so in between minds about these SFF being in a tank alone, they do seem ok with it swimming around but I'm not a fish and I can't really tell if they are 'happy' or not

Is this amwell aquatics??? If so I wouldnt pay attention to them the girl thats works in there said she has a silver arowana in a 180 when I said oh what a 6x2x2 thinking 180g she said no a juwel the rio one meaning 180 ltrs.

1.5 is enough for a Betta. If you don't do constant water changes or have a filter though then it's not good for much of anything.

Yep it is, I live in Church Langley. The arrowana is in the tank by the door and it does look cramped. Saying that, I have a fantastic success rate with all my fish from there, but at Wildwoods they nearly always die.
