been getting 3ppm ammonia to ammonia 0 nitrite 1 overnight , so skipped ammonia dose yesterday tested this morning nitrites were 0 . dosed to 3ppm and went to work . tested out of curiosity when i got in from work and had ammonia 0 nitrite 1 . just tested nitrite again and got 0 tested 3 more...

no dose yesterday as reccomended, and this morning i had zero on both ammonia and nitrite. dosed again before i went to work . fingers crossed for double zeros soon as ive got my eye on some f1 labidochromis hongi

im in the process of cycling a rio 180 .  it had about a weeks cycling with no mature media , and has been cycling with mature media now for about 2 weeks . for about a week now ive been dosing ammonia to 3ppm , then the next day getting results of ammonia 0ppm , nitrite 1 ppm .  every day...

its been so long since i was here and the membershp has changed so much i thought i may as well say a fresh hello :)    im mark , i used to run a 450 litre cichlid tank , but fell on hard times with the recession and the building game being so messed up and had to sell up to make ends meet ...

im looking into that at the moment , but if i cant find anywhere its not the end of the world having to spend around £20 every 6 months :)

im in no rush . i learned the hard weay with my 1st tank that these things cant be hurried . :)

not sure really . planted is something i have always wanted to do , but would of been too expensive in the 100g i used to run :) so long since i kept fish i will probably have a bit of a read up to refresh . maybe something along the lines of rams/apistos with some tetras etc

if you mean the rainbow effect , its created when the light from the torch reflects on the cd's surface .

i put a black pillow case on a little table , put the cd on the table printed side up to get focus using manual focus and live view . then i turned over the cd and used the tip of a cotton bud to place the droplets . camera settings were manual mode , 30 sec shutter , f/32 , iso 100 ...

good point . if you want aquarium safe silicone you can get small tubes on warehouse aquatics . if i remember rightly its only about 3 quid

if the sump is giving enough turnover , i wouldnt see the need for an external as well. your sump will provide masses of biological filtration :good:
