40 gallon with a blood parrot & 2 mystery snails. I found babies this morning, can they live in the tank together??

Only one spot could b the start of it. I suggest ich meds, reading up on it & checking other pics online. If u catch it early u can treat it. I'm not positive that's what it is but if its ich, those spots will multiply fast

Ich u will c small white spots like salt sprinkled on the fish, easiest seen on fins

Does it look like its scraping on the rock?? If so it may b scratching itself & if it does it alot u may have ich- but I'm not an expert, but I have had ich & scratching against things is a symptom

I might have cleaned them once lol they were annihilated

I bet ur turtle would eat a moss ball too lol

I currently have a non digital thermometer lol it's a stick to the side standard kind. I'm goin to the Lfs tomorrow to get a heater & i will get those, thanks!!

Don't give up. The internet is ur friend. We have all made mistakes or have questions or we wouldn't b on here. I have had big issues too, mostly because I listened to a salesperson at a box store eager to sell fish. U can research fish and find out a lot more than they will tell u at a store...

Is the white spot what u mean?? Is it like cotton?? Do u test ur water because moderators will ask what ur levels r. Can u describe the symptoms in more detail??

Have u tried brine shrimp?? Irresistible to fish. Not sure what ur feeding.

I just wanted anyone else looking for info about blood parrots hiding in new tank to know that it's normal behavior. Some people get lucky I suppose but most hide like crazy. There's really nothing u can do but wait, it's worth it

Just an update, my blood parrots r doing great & it took a while for them to come out of hiding except to eat. This is normal from what I have read. I tricked them into coming out longer w brine shrimp since it takes a few minutes to eat. They became more comfortable coming out & now are out...

Thank u for the quick response!! I don't have any idea what this "hydra" is and leeches??? I'm really glad I didn't plop them directly in my tank. So the large jar I have them in should b ok for 4 weeks w water changes or do i have to set up a tank for these guys??

Hi Metalhead88, my water is normal w the exception of the hardness being high. I was wonder what ppl experienced w blood parrots as far as when they r still babies. These r two months old. If I turn livingroom lights out & tank lights off they will come out :) ( I got them sat night)

This weekend I got 2 mystery snails & 2 nerite?? Not sure what that one is called but tiny & starts a an N. Never had snails b4, always placostomus. Snails r amazing, they eat all of the debris. They make a placostomus look like a free loader.

Does anyone know how long it will b before my 2 new baby blood parrots will come out of hiding?? I read this is normal but I'm a bit impatient lol. They swam around together for the first hour & then hid for 24 hours after quickly coming out for food. They only come out for food if I'm nowhere...

That's exactly what I did lol I hope it's dead. The water did clear up today it looks really clear. I'm still dropping flaked food in & my ammonia is .5 nitrate 0 & nitrite 0 & my ph is 8.4

When I filled it back up I let it run at 86 degrees just in case any buggers were still hanging in there from ich which my fish guy tried to convince me is dead but I'm a bit traumatised lol

It was the blood parrots tank but I drained it & cleaned it & started back up w new gravel & filters so yes & yes lol. It seems much clearer today :)
