Stock For 120L Tank

Hi guys,
 
Following advice on these forums we've re-homed some unsuitable fish and are now looking to re-stock our 120 litre freshwater tropical tank. The fish we have currently are as follows:
 
1 Golden Gourami
2 Bristlenose Plces
4 Black Widow Tetra
 
My first question is how many more Tetras should we get for them to be happy as I know they are a schooling fish. We are thinking of getting a couple more so we'd have 6 - is this enough?
 
My next question is how many more fish would we be able to get without over-stocking once we add in a few more Tetras. We don't want to stress any of them out through overcrowding, so would there be any room after we add a few more Tetras to what we already have? Any suggestions/tips are much appreciated.

Just to double check, did you see what Wills suggested to you in your other thread? Are you not happy with it?
I imagine you just want some other suggestions but just wanted to check that you got to see it.
The tetras will definitely be happier at 6+, as you saw from before you can put them up to 8 if you like.

Yeah was following his suggestions in terms of re-homing the minnows, rasbora and 1 Gourami. The person taking the rasbora was also intersted in the Platy's so decided to give them to a new home as well as we were interested in trying something new and they had a bigger tank for them. Should have replied with a thanks for the suggestions, so thank you Wills!
 
So, if we follow Wills idea with 6-8 Tetra does anyone have a reccomendation for a replacement for the three platys?

I'm not sure what could go in place of the platys, I want to suggest a pair of peacock gudgeons.. Hopefully someone more experienced will come along

Do you HAVE to replace the platys? I mean, you have two bristlenoses which are pushing the stocking a bit.

If you want some amusing bottom feeders you might want to consider kuhli loaches. Give them lots of caves, plants, and hidey holes, and once they've settled they'll be put and about.

You could have some cory's? It would look nice if you got pygmy cory's because they shoal more mid level rather than being on the bottom.
Your stock could look like this..
8x black widow tetras
8x pygmys cory's
1x golden gourami
2x bristlenose pleco's.

That may be a bit over stocked but as long as you have good filtration and the tank has a large footprint then you should be fine

Have been having a look online and like the look of celestial pearl danio. Would this be an ok level of stock?

From what I can gather 6 is the minimum for these kind of schooling fish, but seeing as people think we might be pushing our stock levels a bit it might be better going for 6 rather than 8. Thanks for the replies!

To be honest one larger shoal looks A LOT better than two scraggly ones.

I was tempted to do a shoal of rummynoses and a shoal of cardinals in my discus tank, but then I decided for 18 rummynoses and no cardinals, and I couldn't be happier with them.

That Golden Gourami is a really beautiful looking fish! Crackin' markings...

Corys are lovely to watch...the Sterbai are very active and not as finicky as some other flavours of cory.

Got any pics by chance? I have 5 rummynoses right now and am getting 15ish more in a week.
Agreed on the larger shoal is better than two smaller ones..I can't say anything though as I plan on having 8 kuhli loaches with my 8 corys >.> not my fault they're both so cute.
