Hi had an id on here over a year ago, it was a plec that was appoximatly six inches long, over that year he has not grown a single millimeter, which has led me to think its a small species, this contradicts what i was told back then which was it would outgrow my tank very quickly. it's a handsome fish, very mobile, docile and it has increased size across his girth.
was just hoping for a definate identity, and help greatly appreciated. i've had him about four years now and in that time he's grown maximum of a inch.

cheers daz

Yes i too thought it was a gibb, i dont think they grow 2ft in length though, not in the aquarium anyway, i'd say 12inches.

trust me m8 ive seem gibby's at various sizes in aquariums ranging from 1 inch to 22 inch and even read claims of bigger than 24 inch for this 1 not 2 have grown in 4 years then i would say it was stunted which 2 me would be the only explanation

my first thought was stunted, but its a 250 ltr tank and it has been well fed. so we think its 007 0r 012. cheers guys

its defo neither of them :) as i said further up if it has 12 or more rays on its fin then its puts it as a gibby i think im rite there ....some 1 better may be able 2 give a better explanation on gibbi/common plecs not really my field tbh lol :)

L001 defo but the largest i've3 ever seen is 12" most peeps think it's 8" but Never heard of them getting to 20"

Yeah, 12" seems to be the consensus on all of the other sites that I've checked...
