Polystyrene Board Thickness To Level Tank

I've checked the tank and the bottom pane of glass is sitting directly on the cabinet - there's no raised area.

Polystyrene Board Thickness To Level Tank

I read online somewhere earlier about glass and acrylic. Just thought I'd check :) Would 8mm or 10mm be enough? I've heard not to have polystyrene that's too thick. Edit: Here's the link. It says "Putting padding under a tank is recommended for acrylic not glass". Another quotation...

Polystyrene Board Thickness To Level Tank

Is polystyrene safe to use underneath a glass tank?

Polystyrene Board Thickness To Level Tank

The cabinet and the floor is level :) I'll order some 10mm sheets. I was thinking of 20mm but that may be too much.

Polystyrene Board Thickness To Level Tank

My new tank is 60" long and 15" wide - so it'll hold around 280 litres of water. The glass itself weighs a lot. I'm in the process of purchasing some polystyrene boards but I'm not sure on what thickness to get. I can get 25mm, 50mm or 75mm. I'd like to include some tolerance in the...

    External Filter

I've come across this external filter on eBay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/170748671984?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1952.l2649#ht_7931wt_1037 What are your opinions on this filter? My only concern is the surface area of the sponge compared to the sponges in a filter like a Fluval...

Fish Dying One After Another Over A Period Of Time

I did see some white poo floating around earlier. It was quite thin but not hair-like thin. Edit: It wasn't long poo. About 1cm.

Fish Dying One After Another Over A Period Of Time

Stats: 95 litre tank - fully cycled 2 platys 2 honey gouramis 5 cherry barbs 4 neon tetras 2 days ago I found my Siamese fighting fish showing signs of clamped fin. He was 'paralysed' within a few hours - showing signs of breathing but wasn't swimming. I ran out of testing strips on that...

    Fishless Cycling

Is there such a thing as high ammonia levels in a cycled tank? If there is - is it a sign that the ammonia produced can't be processed quickly enough by the bacteria? Or is it a sign that the tank is not yet fully cycled?

    Fishless Cycling

With the "Add and Wait" method it says that once the cycle is complete, you can safely add your full fish load as the tank will have enough bacteria built up to handle any waste they produce. But the "Add Daily" method suggests that if the ammonia levels ever goes over 6 to 8ppm that it severly...

Is This A Suitable Source Of Ammonia?

I just wanted to be 1000000001% sure :D

Is This A Suitable Source Of Ammonia?

I'm looking for some ammonia to help with the fishless cycling of my additional new tank. Would this be suitable to help start the process?

    Cutting Aquarium Glass

I'm looking to cut a section of glass out of my new 5ft tank. The area I want to cut is a redundant piece of glass - so it won't affect the tank's structure. Here's two images to make it easier to understand: Image 1 and image 2. I can fit one external filter hose through the gap but I'd like...
