ok, so i bought a wood shrimp for my invert tank. i haven't seen him feeding at all.

is this normal? do they take a while to settle in?

do they eat at night - when obviously i can't see him feeding or not feeding?

is there any way to get him to feed?

also - incase this has anything to do with it, he moulted about two nights ago.

They tend to be quite shy when they first go into a new home, they come from an environment with very few plants so it takes them a while to adjust.

They don't tend to move much when they are feeding, when they find somewhere with good water flow they tend to stay put. It could be hiding somewhere feeding where you can't see it.

You could try changing the output direction from the filter if possible, i see my fan shrimp a lot more now the water is directed towards a branch on my bogwood.

They need a raised area to "perch" with high flow. You should feed them once per day when you see them fanning the water current, fry food or finely crushed flake food sprinkeled in to the water flow is how.
