Right guys

New cannister filter on way, Bio media will be ordered by the end of the day....Substrate --- ( Still deciding ) so we are now moving forward with our project....

Now during my strip down if I place the cycled media with the new media in a bucket of tank water would this be any good spreading the bacteria

Not really. The bacteria grow in the biofilm which is firmly attached to the filter media. The bacteria won't 'jump across' to the new media just because they in the same water for a few hours.
The best thing to do is put the old media into the new filter and pack new media around it. That way you keep the bacteria on the old media, and new bacteria can slowly migrate into the new media.

Remember the bacteria needs oxygen and running water. So keep the old filter running until you can transfer the media and then get the new one running asap.
