hi everyone.
I made my pond in a round fountain and it is 67" wide and 8" deep
I have in it 4 little water lilies several Cabomba Green, Anacharis, 4 new gold fish and like 8 sword tails
ok questions
1.- do I need gravel for the pond ?
2.- how many fish can I put in?
3.- why are they hidden under the pots?
4.- why do I have green water after I while?
I live in mexico so I dont have very cold weather and I have a little pump just to move the water from time to time

do I need to do someting else ??????

thanks.

sounds good on all. BUT when i was in mexico in the spring it was HOT so you might want to be careful not to boil your fish. i am a total ski bum so i think 65*F is hot so it might be just fine.

personally the pond is far but fine. i read that as 8 inch deep? if so it need to be at least 3-4 time deeper than that.

1.- do I need gravel for the pond ?
no

2.- how many fish can I put in?
no more than you already have.

3.- why are they hidden under the pots?
the fish will hide under the plants as its shelter. maybe something is scaring them such as a cat/fox (or whatever you have over there) and as its only 8 inch it will be hard for the fish to get to get away from a bird of some sort if it trys to catch them. it might also be too hot for them so under the shade will be cooler (again deeper the pond the cooler it will say)

4.- why do I have green water after I while?
you will need a decent filter and a uv to to keep the water clear as well as a suitable pump to be left on 24/76 365 days a year.

again the pond isnt really suitable and should be alot deeper

ps not having ago at you in any way just offering my advice
chris

ok I have been looking for filters but I just dont now what to get
I have like 120 gallons and most filters are for 200
what type of filter do you recomend, what brand, uv too??

thaks for the help.

hi. no problem

it is better to have a filter too bug than too small. can you post a mexican fish website please with different filters and i will have a quick look. (you probably dont get the english brandes over there). the reason you wont find one for 120 gallons is because its a small pond and are normally alot bigger.

also if you give me your buget i will try and find something to suit it.

thanks for the reply.

well, I was thinking of getting one from USA and spending 250, 300 dlls. max.
I was looking at some pump/filter/uv that it will suit me what do you recomend ?

thanks for the help

if you could post a few links to us websites i will find a setup for you.

sorry ive been so long in replying

you would want the ani264 500 gallon w/ 5w uv £178.95

pump

bigger filter the better so i would go with the 500 gallon one (never listen to the manufacturers claims about the filters. they normally can only cope with at least half of what they state the filter can cope with)

pump the biggest pump you should choose is about the same size of the pond (n your case 130 gallons per hour. With a pressurized pump you will loose pressure after the filter.

if you say its hot you should make some sort of waterfall so that it oxygenates the water

oh
the only other thing you will need it 3/4 inch to 1/2 inch reducer and however much 1/2 inch pipe you need
