I started fishless cycling today with my first tank. I misread the directions...now I won't say how much I poured in, but I poured about 0.5 quart of ammonia into my tank. When I re-read the directions, I died of laughter. Fortunately, there are no fishies to die from it. I guess the bacteria will take care of it EVENTUALLY, right? Just checking.

 just a bit too much. I think you should do a great big water change and start over. With that much ammonia the spike will last forever and then the nitrite spike will last twice that. I would think a capful of ammonia will do the trick for your 10 gal. Good Luck. :)

I threw in a few spoonfuls of my ammonia killer. I'll check again tomorrow, then probably do a big water change.
