My fluorescent fixture for my 29 gallon tank just died. I've been meaning to replace it with a T-5 fixture so I guess this is my chance!

I'm looking to spend under $100, and the cheaper, the better.

This one looks decent, and super cheap, but it's OOS here:

Other ones I found:

Any other suggestions? I have no idea how to tell what's a good quality lamp/bulb/etc against something that's crap.

I haven't tried eBay yet. I figure I'll find the lamp I want and then see if it's cheaper there. Hmm...

I have the number four light (nova extreme) freshwater edition and it works great. Only had it a week but I have yet to have any issues with it. It's had awesome reviews on it and its a way better bargain than other lights.

Very cool. I think that's the one I'm leaning towards, unless I can find one locally to try out.

Do you have it suspended above the top of the tank? How easily can you get into the tank for feeding and such?

I have it propped up on legs that come with it. I have a 20in x 12in x 16in ten gallon, and the fixture is 24in so it comes out the sides a little bit, but my tank is 12in wide and the light is only 5 inches wide. It's raised above the water (on the legs) about 3-4in and gives me easy access to the water. It comes with a built in canopy that protects the lights.
