How long are Guppies pregnant for?

I have had my guppies for about 3 months and have 2 males and 4 females. Each time they breed (which is very often) they only have 1 fry. Is something wrong?

I highly doubt only 1 fry was born, so most likely they were eaten(many fish will eat fry, it's like a delicacy), even they're parents will eat them. Another cause could be they got sucked into the filter, but mostly likely they were eaten. This is why seperating the pregnant female in either a breeding trap or a seperate tank to have fry will prevent this. Or if you want them born in the community tank, provide tons of shelter with thick plants, like moss.

Are you putting them in a breeding net? and watching the mom guppie give birth? If your not the mom will eat the babies straight away
