I have a large gravel vaccuum for my 44 gallon tank and it's growing mold inside the long, thin part of the tube. Is there any way to clean that out? Does it matter? Should I just buy a new one?

Hi Toki and :hi: to the forums.

Cleaning the tubes out is a bit of a nuisance. :/

I would personally go out and buy a new tube. You should be able to pick one up from your LFS or even a DIY store for just a couple of ££/$$.

Hi Toki :)

Welcome to the forum!

If you want to clean your siphon hose, just soak it for a while in a mild solution of Clorox and water. Then rinse it well and dry completely before using it again. If you want to be extra sure of removing all the bleach, just add some dechlorinator to the final rinse water. :D

It will be as good as new.

If its an algae growing in the tube, you should be okay. But, if it is in fact a mold then I'd be wary on using it again.
