Hi there.. sorry to hear about all your problems with your new tank :(

Just wanted to give you a little bit of hope though... I also got some very bad advice from my lfs and added five fish to my 25 gallon UNCYCLED tank. Then, hubby decided to add a few more in the next few weeks. Good news is that I found this forum 3 days afterwards and credit everyone in here with the fact that almost all of the original fish survived the cycling process and now, 10 months later the tank is happy and healthy.

My advice : Read all the pinned articles in here on cycling, do daily 10-15% water changes (will lengthen the cycling process but is worth it because is reduces the fishes stress from amonia build-up) and make sure you buy test kits for amonia, nitrite and nitrate. (i find the liquid ones more accurate than the strips) It took my tank 6-7 weeks to cycle.

Next tank I'll do the fishless cycle.. but with a little bit of patience and preserverence you can safely cycle with fish too

Good luck!!
Valerie
